Canada home prices may rise 10 percent in 2010: report « Real Estate Services

Canada home prices may rise 10 percent in 2010: report « Real Estate Services: "(Reuters)TORONTO (Reuters) – Canadian home-resale prices are likely rise in 2010 at an even faster pace than this year but a dangerous bubble probably won’t develop, TD Economics said in study published on Tuesday.
The average price of an existing home in Canada is expected to surge 9-10 percent next year to about C$346,000 as sales climb to 475,000. In 2009, the average price rose an estimated 4-5 percent on an annual basis.
But the sales momentum, which TD expects will last six to 10 more months, should not translate into a “bubble” as the cost of ownership, when lower interest rates are taken into consideration, has fallen in recent months.
The residential housing market froze late last year in the wake of the global financial crisis, but its swift recovery has prompted some concern about the chances of a sudden collapse. Sales of existing homes rose to a record monthly high in October.
TD described the Canadian market’s downturn and subsequent recovery “as V-shaped as can be.” It partly attributed the rebound to pent-up demand after last year’s slump.
Over the next few years, sales growth should moderate as more supply comes into the market and interest rates rise, TD said in its resale housing outlook report.
In 2011, eroding affordability is likely to weaken sales by more than 10 percent to 421,200 units while prices rise 1.6 percent to C$351,600. In the following two years, prices and sales are expected to rise modestly."

Road Today Truck Show-Brampton Day 1

Hello friends,

It was a long, tiring but highly successful day at the Powerade Centre in Brampton (Kennedy Rd. North of Derry Rd.). The event's First day was filled with lots of activity; best mechanic, some pit show (I couldn't see it as I was stuck in my booth); speeches by hon'ble Minister Mr. Malhi, Mr. Harinder Takhar and one MP (Sorry, I couldn't catch his name). There was a great response to my draw. Over 80 people signed up for it. Tomorrow is the final day; Day 2 and is again going to be busy. It was fun, frolic and business, all blended into a perfect recipe. If youhaven't seen it, come tomorrow. Spread the word.

Victoria Day - May 18th, 09

Victoria Day

In Canada, the celebration of Victoria Day occurs every year on Monday, prior to May 25th. It is the official celebration in Canada of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. Victoria Day was established as a holiday in Canada West (Now Ontario) in 1845, and became a national holiday in 1901. Before Victoria Day became a national Holiday, people had celebrated Empire Day , beginning in the 1890s as Victoria approached her Diamond jubilee in 1897. Victoria, queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and empress of India was born on 24 May 1819. She ascended the throne after the death of her uncle George IV in 1837 when she was only 18. She ruled until her death in 1901 when her son Edward the VII became king of England.

For those who don't know anything about what Carassauga is, here's the update:
Established in 1985, the Carassauga Festival is an incorporated not-for-profit organization that organizes a city-wide multicultural festival to promote understanding, respect and co-operation among all Canadians of different heritage. This annual three-day family event spans 20 operating hours and is scheduled during the last weekend in May. Pavilions featuring a wide variety of activities depicting many cultures are showcased in public buildings throughout the city.
